EASTER is a time which helps us to remember that there are more important things than the material aspects of life that seem to take up so much of our time and our thoughts. It is a time of reflection about the scope of our lives. It is a time of hope, the hope that this life, with all its imperfections, is simply a period of transition to something infinitely better.
All these highlight the importance of living life to the full in a spirit of solidarity with others. A life well-lived means a life of service to others, tolerance of different ideas and viewpoints and that restless spirit of love for all humanity which drives one to daily try and do something positive that will contribute towards improving the conditions of life on earth.
Perhaps today, considering the very fast pace at which we live our lives, it is easy to forget the essential values that make life worth living. The idea that everything is relative, materialist conceptions of life, narrowly utilitarian approaches to everyday life, all these can serve to distract us from more lasting values that enrich our lives and those of others and which give sense to all our actions and experiences.
Irrespective of one’s views on religion, of one’s beliefs or lack of them, this is a time when the reflection on the fact that everything in this life is ephemeral and transitional should serve to spur us on in the search for the real truth, the real scope of human life.
“Wishing you a very happy Easter filled with love and generosity!”
